The AST GmbH (Advanced Shockwave Technology) was founded in Jena by Dr. Werner Schwarze and Dipl. Ing Hugo Stephan. The founders have been involved as an inventor and successful entrepreneurs in the medical shockwave application since more than two decades. The company developed a device called LithoSpace®. The LithoSpace® is the first small, flexible, and effective lithotripter to complement the new urologic workstation of the 21st century. Due to its small size LithoSpace® is a world novelty. In 2007 the AST GmbH started its international activities.

CoLIGHT

CoLIGHT is a joint venture of four companies (JENOPTIK Polymer Systems GmbH, dilitronics GmbH, MAZeT GmbH and 2K Moxa Lighting GmbH) and two research institutes (Fraunhofer IOF and TU Ilmenau). The project startet in 2009 and aims to develop intelligent street lights based on LED-Technology. Each of the member focuses on developing one part of the future street light. The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the ministry of economics of the German federal state Thuringia.
